Meet Ashley DeWalt: Leading Innovation in SportsTech with the DivInc Accelerator

Ashley DeWalt is shaping the future of sports technology through the SportsTech Accelerator program. As DivInc’s Managing Director, he brings an extensive background as a mentor, advisor, and investor in sports technology to help companies connect with resources they need to grow. His commitment to fostering diversity in the startup ecosystem combined with a wealth of knowledge in the industry makes him our MVP.

A Career Dedicated to Sports

In addition to being DivInc’s MD, DeWalt is also an emerging fund manager at The Collectiv, a community powered VC fund investing in SportsTech startups, professional teams and leagues. With 20 years in sports and entertainment consulting, DeWalt has partnered with top brands like Nike and Adidas, professional athletes, and universities. Formerly, he led global marketing for the Houston Outlaws esports team, shaping their brand strategy in the Overwatch League.

Beyond his work at DivInc, DeWalt’s influence extends his love for the sports industry to his love for the Houston community. He serves on the Houston 2026 World Cup bid subcommittee and is an advisor at Mercury Fund, Stadia Ventures, and a $100M+ sports tech SPAC, contributing to high-growth and high-impact ventures. His work has been featured by ESPN, CBS Sports, and Front Office Sports, among other top media outlets. DeWalt, a dedicated family man, lives in Houston with his wife, Kristin, and daughters, Kennedy and Asher.

What SportsTech Innovations Are Most Exciting Right Now?

DeWalt is excited about the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and its transformative impact on the sports industry. AI technology is changing everything from athlete performance analysis to fan engagement, and DeWalt is eager to see how upcoming cohorts harness AI to bring fresh ideas to the sports tech space.

“We’ve already seen an influx in AI powered SportsTech companies applying to the program. I am excited to see how these companies are utilizing the technology to improve player performance, financial outcomes for players, and fan engagement inside and outside of the stadium.” – Ashley

Impact of the SportsTech Accelerator

For DeWalt, the most impactful part of the SportsTech Accelerator lies in its network of mentors and workshop facilitators—renowned leaders in the sports industry who dedicate their time and expertise to helping founders thrive. The accelerator’s influence extends beyond business growth, fostering personal and professional development that leaves lasting impacts on its participants.

Recent graduates of the SportsTech Accelerator have achieved some notable milestones. Destin, the founder of Card.io, was featured on the Season 16 premier of Shark Tank. RaShaun and Clay, the founders of ScreenSkinz.com, recently secured a major retail partnership with ZAGG. These success stories underscore the power of DivInc's network and mentorship in setting startups up for growth and industry recognition.

A Vision for 2025

Looking forward to DivInc's third SportsTech cohort in 2025, DeWalt is preparing to welcome new programming partners. His journey with DivInc is fueled by a commitment to driving meaningful, sustainable change in the tech ecosystem. For DeWalt, the SportsTech Accelerator is more than just an accelerator; it's a mission-driven platform that amplifies diverse voices and innovative perspectives in the sports industry.
